CHALLENGE BLOCK - Pat Borman & Leslie Stapleton - It’s fun and free and easy. Everyone wins!
You will be amazed at the variety of blocks, the talent, creativity, imagination, colors. Each quilter adds their own spark to this challenge. The blocks on display garner smiles, praise, awe, laughter and conversations. Challenge blocks reveal the personalities of the quilters in our QUILTERS DREAM tribe.
ENTER - Select YES on your registration form that you want to do the challenge block. Everyone selecting YES will be sent a 7-inch square of the challenge fabric.
CREATE YOUR BLOCK - Make a 12 ½ inch square quilt block (12 X 12 inches finished) that must include some of the challenge fabric. Any block you want, use your imagination. The sky is the limit. Have fun.
REGISTER YOUR BLOCK AT THE QUILTERS DREAM RETREAT - You sign up, your block is numbered and hung on the wall for all to enjoy. Challenge Block registration closes before dinner on Saturday.
VOTE - After dinner, everyone at the retreat can vote. Take one ballot and vote for your three favorite blocks.
After the votes are tallied, we will announce 4 winners. 3 winners are selected based on the tallied votes. The 4th winner is drawn at random from registered Challenge Block participants.
PRIZES - These 4 winners will divide up and share the challenge blocks AND receive several yards of the Challenge Fabric. We hope each winner creates a beautiful Challenge Block Quilt to show at a future retreat.

FROM SQUIGGLES TO FULL CIRCLES – Free – SKILL BUILDER - Thurs, Fri & Sat Class
BARBARA HYLTON– [email protected] – (360) 588-9134
Curves and circles can add a magical design element to your quilts. Don't be intimidated as they are not complicated to sew. I am excited to try a bit different class approach this year. Instead of focusing on a particular quilt project, this will be a skill building series of 3 short demonstrations, one each day, to build confidence and experience with improvisational squiggles, drunkards path curves, and ending with full inset circles.
Bring scraps to practice with and have as reference samples or for those that actually want a finished project with your efforts, bring fabrics to create modern artistic place-mats. Either way will be a great opportunity to advance your skills and expand your world by enjoying making quilts that include curves.
Supplies:
Circle rulers if you have one or try out mine
Miscellaneous scraps for skill building practice
For Placemats:
5 coordinated fat quarters, 4 will be used for the backgrounds and one for the insets.
4 pieces of batting and 4 pieces of backing – each 14 inches by 19 inches for a set of placemats
Thread to blend

FIONA’S DAISY CHAIN – 57 ½” X 57 ½” – PATTERN - $9 -
Friday 10 AM class
DONNA BYBEE - [email protected] - (360) 733-5657
Pre-class cutting will come with your confirmation
Do you have fabric that you don’t want to cut? You would like to showcase! This is a pattern for you.
Fiona’s Daisy Chain is an Irish Chain quilt featuring a large focal print. Easy and quick!
Fabric Requirements
* Focal print background 1 ½ yards. (What the pattern states) (You need 12 – 9 ½ squares of
your focus fabric that you want to feature)
* Background Fabric: 1 ½ yards
* Irish Chain blocks, light fabric in daisy 7/8 yard
* Irish Chain blocks, 4 corners in the block 7/8 yard
* Irish Chain blocks, center of the daisy ¼ yard
**a stiletto will be helpful.
I used the Superbloom fabric line from Robin Pickens (Moda).
For the Irish chain, you need to decide how you want your fabric placement to change the look. I incorporated the background fabric into the Irish chain (plain block & center of daisy) because I like the look of white flowers to float around the featured fabric. See the color pictures to get the full picture of how I used the fabrics.
