INTRODUCTION TO COLLAGE QUILTING WORKSHOP - 22”x25” - WORKSHOP FEE: $40
There will be 2 classes for this class - limit of a total 24 students - 12 per class
PURPLE FLAG IRIS - Saturday AM Class
LINDY THOMAS - 360-450-1230 - [email protected]
Collage quilting is an exciting new art form that I do exclusively now.
I have taught classes in collage quilting in Washington and Arizona for the last few years.
In this class you will learn to “paint” with fabric. You will see how shape, color, and most importantly “value” creates a lovely wall art piece.
I will be providing most of what you will need so you can get started right away.
After you have completed your creation you can grid quilt, free motion, or some people stretch it over a canvas frame (unquilted).
ITEMS TO BRING
Small iron such as a Clover
Small scissors such as Karen Buckley’s blue 6” Perfect Scissors.
(They are great to reduce hand strain, and they are slightly serrated to reduce fabric fraying).
PROVIDED IN WORKSHOP
Pattern prepared on foam core board, background fabric, miscellaneous useful tools, a wide variety of prepared fabrics for the iris, and a supply and source list for your future creations.

This is a dramatic attention getting quilt!
Gather your collection of strips 2” or less to create this accordion illusion quilt with layers and depth.
Using value of light, medium and dark, putting them in strip sets makes this a very do-able dramatic quilt.
Tone on tone, small prints, florals, geometrics, grunge, solids or tone on tone will work great
Avoid large prints.
Use your miscellaneous strips to get a good variety of light, medium and dark value.
Go to your fat quarters or yardage and pick out about 2 yards of each light, medium and dark value to cut into strips of varied widths from 1” to 2”. This will give you the best variety of choices.
You will need your ruler with 60⁰ angle and a value finder (like Ruby Beholder or using your phone photo filter) This will greatly assist you in determining the values of the fabric choices.
